The cottage is located in the centre of Allonby, with open views across the Solway Firth to Scotland.
This is a very relaxing base for exploring the magnificent Lake District National Park.
There are many other attractions in the local area, including the coastal towns of Silloth, Maryport and Whitehaven, plus the Lake district towns of Keswick and Cockermouth.
This is the uncommecialized part of Cumbria. Allonby is a small village on the north west coast of Cumbria, between Maryport and Silloth, in a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty.
Allonby village is quiet, but has restaurants, takeaway and pubs.
Eating out is also available in local villages.
Allonby Bay has a long sandy beach, with fine views across the Solway Estuary to the mountains of Southern Scotland.
Visitors can enjoy an almost empty beach - a cleanliness and safety winner - and also take advantage of windsurfing, fishing or just a stroll.
The coastal towns of Maryport, and Whitehaven with their marinas lie to the south down the coast.
The Victorian seaside village of Silloth with its excellent golf course, is only 10 minutes North of Allonby.
The historic city of Carlisle with it's castle and attractive shopping centre is within easy driving distance.
Inland from Allonby there are plenty of quiet country lanes, which can be explored, with many small villages.
Pub meals are available in some of those nearby villages.
Allonby is situated in a non-commercialized area, on the Solway coast.
The magnificent Lake District National Park is within easy reach.
Keswick is only 30 - 35 scenic miles away.
On the way to Keswick, you will pass beautiful Bassenthwaite Water, famous for it's Ospreys.
Their nest can be viewed from the Osprey viewing area situated on the North side of Bassenthwaite Water.
With coast, countryside, lakes and hills, there is something for everyone, whatever the weather!
